Having a hard time coming to terms my pet needs to be put down

A week ago I found out my cat has a pretty big mass on her lung. Her kidneys are failing too. She’s 15. So my deal is she’s been hanging around being her normal self up until this last week. She is having a wobbly time walking and eats only soft foods. Peeing still, but hasn’t pooped. But what is messing me up is how alert she is. The vet was ready to put her down when we visited but I was not. They said she had 1-2 days left and she’s still alert one week later. So every day I’m like does she need to be put down today? But she is still breathing ok and responding to me !!!! I feel so many places of guilt. I feel like an anti-vacciner
