What do I do with my cats while builders are going to be in my home and I’m on holiday?

I have two 7 year old cats and my bathroom is due to be renovated and because I’m renting I really had little say over the time of it.

My boyfriend and I going away to a caravan park (I live in the UK) with family travelling to come join us so we can’t reschedule said holiday. The park is only about an hour from my house so our original plan was to stay there a night, come back a night and so on to feed and sort the cats out with food and change their litter etc.

With the builder being there, however, I’m not sure what to do because they would be locked up in one room with everything they need (the room they spend most time in) but I don’t know how they would be with all of the noise going on and is not being there to comfort them.

My brother has offered to take the cats to his house for the 5 days, however he has a dog and cat of his own and my 2 don’t really get on well with other animals. Again, they would be locked in a room up there too, kept separate from my brothers pets, but the difference being there would be no construction work noise and they would have a familiar face attending them all day whenever they need it. There is no doubt they would be panicky and nervous there at all times of the day.

So should I leave my cats at home and in a familiar environment, where a face pops in once a day to feed them and spend a little bit of time with them but they have the noisy construction work, or should I take them to my brothers where they will be scared from the smell of his pets and being in a different environment but will have constant supervision?
