My wife and I had a Basset that we had for 8-9 years before we had to rehome him due to her going back to work fulltime. His anxiety when we were both gone was extreme, to the point that he would tear up the house and use the bathroom in the house despite being housetrained. So we rehomed him with this retired lady who already had another Basset, and who is home all the time. She apparently has an Instagram for the two dogs, and my wife likes to check in on him and see what he's been up to (they just recently took a road trip down to Florida, for instance). I can't do it, because it hurts my heart every time I see his picture, but sometimes I wonder: does he miss me the way I miss him? Like I'm sure he's happy to have someone who's home all the time and another dog to be friends with, but does he ever think of his old owner? Do dogs his age adjust to "new" homes like puppies do?
