Some background: My dog has been alone since my other dog died unexpectedly a year ago. My dog has since then appeared to be very lonely and loves when we spend time around other dogs. I decided it would be a good idea to get another puppy. Zeus and Apollo are both males and neither have shown any signs of aggression.
My dog, Zeus, is 7 years old. He is still doing good and very healthy. He is active and loves to play. Apollo, my 8 week old puppy, is also very active and loves Zeus, but Zeus seems scared of him. Anytime Zeus is around Apollo, he runs as fast as he can to our couch since it's the only place Apollo can't get on. He has offered his toy to play with Apollo but as soon as Apollo goes to play, Zeus runs away. My vet put Zeus on an anxiety medication but is there anything else I can do to make Zeus more comfortable? I thought he would love having another dog around the house but he just seems scared.
