I’ve been trying to introduce my (9 week old) kitten to my resident adult cat these last few weeks. I think this week there has been a lot of progress with my resident cat. She’s way less defensive and scared, and seems more curious now. It took a lot of hissing and swatting but I think she is comfortable.
Now, I’m worried about my kitten. I’ve never introduced two cats together before so I just was wondering if this is normal. The kitten wasn’t afraid of my adult cat at first, but now she is very submissive and scared when near the adults presence. She will take that arch back scared pose and meow/whine until my adult cat makes some distance.
The adult cat tried to play with her today but the kitten gets so scared. I try to reassure her by giving her pets and attention but it doesn’t seem to calm her. Is this normal? Sorry if this is a pretty obvious question. I’m just nervous and want to make sure everything is going well between the two of them!
