I've done everything they tell you to do. She's been to the vet multiple times, I believe it's a learned behavior that I can't break. She urinates on soft surfaces onl--, beds, blankets, towels, etc but uses litter box for poop. I do have another cat who doesn't have ANY elimination problems. She's 2.5 years old, I've had her since she was 3 months.
A list of things I've done: - Given her prescribed wet food for crystals. - Got a cat fountain to further promote dissolving of any possible crystals. - Feed her mostly wet food to avoid further crystals. - Extra litter box in my place. - Give food on the bed to change her association.
The vet said its hard to tell if it's an actual medical problem or a behavioral issue at this point.
She would pee my on bed occasionally, to which I started leaving specific towels and blankets down so it wouldn't happen on my bed. Now she's peeing on the bed multiple times a day. I can't separate her from my bedroom because I'm in a studio apartment. The only place I can put her is in the bathroom but I work long hours. She would be in there at least 10-12 hours before I could let her out. But I'm getting fed up at this point.
I'm considering getting a cat cage so she won't have access to my bed. I can't retrain her if I'm not able to block her access to the bed. Once I move next year, it'll be easier but I'm trying to find a solution ASAP.
Any advice or tips? I really don't want to give her up but the thought of a sleeping in cat pass for the next 10+ years is something I can't put up with.
