[Help] Getting a dog in a house with a cat with cerebellar hypoplasia (Wobbly Cat Syndrome) (x-post /r/dogs)

I was looking for some input regarding my family's situation right now. We are heavily considering getting a dog (a puppy), but we have a cat with cerebellar hypoplasia. In case you don't know, this is a disease where the cerebellum of the cat isn't fully developed, so they have a bit of trouble walking and can't really jump up. The cat can run, but it's very erratic running.

My fear is if we get a dog, there is a chance that this cat will be seen as prey and I kind of fear for my cat's life. Is this a genuine concern? I hear stories of dogs attacking and killing cats all the time, is getting a dog not appropriate with a cat with this condition?
