Every cat I have owned that is mine have had that special connection that made us meet.
When I was nine or ten we moved for the first time. I hated it, especially since we could not find one of our cats, we had two Patches and her daughter Duchess (i got to name duchess) and I was upset that we couldn't find Duchess. My dad spent hours looking and our nosey neighbor said she would call us if she returned (it was only a 3 or 4 hour drive away) and finally stuck me in the car, promising he would find her or i could have my own cat. I was heart broken, I hope that she had a long and happy life with a different family. About 3 or 4 months later we were yard saleing because mom wanted to find cheaper clothes/school supplies and I got dragged along. I was a very unhappy at this point because Patches had turned into a passive cat who didn't want to play, the dog was too energetic for my taste and i had no friends and i had missed like 3 or 4 weeks at the end of the school year so i had a long summer. Well at this yard sale this tiny child, like maybe 4 or 5 who was really short, pushed a kitten into my hands and stated "This is your kitten!" (they had a box of them) and there was a cute white kitten with tortie markings on her head, back, and tail. She had really pretty eyes. I cuddled her and asked my parents. Who said no and made me leave the yardsale. I then spent the next hour talking them into the cat. Nothing worked until i said "You never found Duchess! And that was MY CAT. You said i could have one!" Which resulted in us going back, and the child who gave her to me the first time smiling and handing her back. Missy lived happily as my cat for 14 years.
Then I met Ruby. I took my mom to adopt a dog (she ended up with oscar) seven and a half years ago(i was 23 or 24). I got bored and I went to look at cats. I got to go in a room and play with the kittens, there were literally 2-3 litters worth of kittens. All but one played with me, I was like that little black kitten keeps just staring at me. I thought it was slightly weird. I played with the friendly cuddly kittens and completely forgot about the one that wouldn't play. When i got up to leave the kitten scaled my pants and dragged my car keys out of my pocket. Both my keys and the kitten landed on the floor. So I'm staring into the golden eyes of a tiny black kitten who has my keys in her paws and mouth. I though great I cant go home without you huh?
Then Sapphires happened one and a half years later, the day before my birthday. I and my cat are living in my friends in a city/state i feel like is hell and i had just been in a car accident the week before. Me and said friend go over to a new friends house for dinner to celebrate my birthday. She greets us and we have a great dinner and she goes "Are you ready for your gift?" I'm like sure i guess... And she leaves the room. I hear a zipping noise and I'm sitting there confused what did she get me? A coat? A couple seconds later she plops a kitten on my lap. I stare at it. It stares at me. It climbs up my chest and rubs her head against mine and sits down and starts purring. And I sit there going in my head "I got a birthday cat...cant say no to that..."
And now... Almost two months after Ruby's loss. We have Miltia (Pronounced Milsha, I had an argument with bf that it should be spelt the way it sounds because I as an American have trouble connecting foreign languages and spelling, appearntly its a nickname for some greek guy which is now used as a female name and is spelt either way, but he went with the tia ending instead of the sha ending.) I couldn't get my car out of the parking lot so i walked to the doctors office, It snowed and was cold and icy because it rained/snowed all night. And on my way back home i heard a tiny sound. So i called out. It was a meow! So i said "Where are you?" It got a little louder. I started to go toward the sound and almost fell off the bike path and down the side of a hill. I pause and asked "Where are you? Ill rescue you!" A small head popped up halfway down the hill. It was shaking and lowered its head back down but i could see where it had gone. So i slowly got down the hill. And there was a 7 month old kitten who was barley moving(found age at the vet later). It backed into a pipe which it had been hiding in while i made my way to it. I got it to come forward so i could reach it (took like 10 minutes) and i wanted to cry because of how slow she was and how much she was shaking. I got her out and into my coat (that was a battle because she was so scared that she fought back, probably thought either way she would die >.<) and the moment she was in the coat she just stopped.
Vet checked for microchip. None. Shes healthy, just skinny. Animal control and local shelters have no reports of her description as missing and its been a week and noone has claimed her. So if by next week its the same I guess we keep her. Since i brought her home noone put me can pet/cuddle with her. Which makes my Bf sad. She will play with him tho so hopefully she will get fond of him. She watches sapphire who keeps looking at her like "What are you?!" And at me like "Why did you do this to me?!"
Ive had three of my own dogs and several family ones but nothing like this has happened with them.
But apparently me and cats just happen.
