I just recently posted a text on r/pets earlier today, which will give some insight into this post if you are willing to look at it (you can find it in my posts on my account). My cat only ever stays with me. I have been battling depression for years now, and after getting better it has gotten much much worse all of the sudden for no apparent reason. My parents split a year ago and are now getting back together so my cat has moved back in with me. Since I’m heavily depressed most of the time, I spend the entire day (when I’m not working or at school, I don’t see friends ever or talk to anyone anymore) in a pitch black room with 3 different fans on so my room is ice cold and not too quiet. My cat sits in my room with me the entire day. And when I say entire day, I mean the ENTIRE day. She doesn’t move from her spot either. She’ll stand up every few hours to stretch then lays right back down. My cat is pretty over weight too, and doesn’t like cuddling very much but does like being pet. She only goes downstairs maybe once a day to eat and use the bathroom, then comes right back up to me. I know she loves me but I am worried. Even when I am not home she stays in the dark in my room (even when I leave the door open so she can leave). I don’t want her to be sad. I don’t want my sadness to rub off onto her. She should be staring out the window and laying in the sun but instead she chooses to be with me.
