Hi. I'm fostering a one year old cat that was spayed yesterday. But she's getting picked up by her adoptees in two days. While it's a little early post surgery it's unfortunately the best day for everyone and even me, for it to happen. My work schedule changed last minute so I wouldn't be able to give her the antibiotics or watch her recovery anymore. I just need advice on how to put her into her carrier without hurting her. She is extremely afraid of her carrier and most of the time she's very shy/cautious as she was an outdoors cat. I have never been successful with luring her in with treats and usually what I do is pick her up with a hand on her back legs and her chest to guide her into her carrier. But I'm afraid that if I go that route it might tear her stitches. I haven't gotten too close of a look at them yet as she has mainly been compressed under my bed and very cautious of me approaching. I will try tonight to get her to let me inspect them. But her behavior hasn't yet shown any pain, just renewed cautiousness and typical post op lethargy. Though she is hissing when annoyed which is a first but it's only the second day since the surgery and only when she feels annoyed/threatened.
But again I'm mainly just wondering how to get her into her carrier in the safest way possible.
Any advice would be amazing thank you!
