Hello, I recently bought a beautiful Bourke Parakeet and my friend actually gave me a bird cage to start me off. Due to some broken pieces of the cage and to being smaller than what I would prefer, I'm looking for another cage to buy.
I understand that Bourkes prefer more horizontal cages as opposed to vertical. Does this mean that Bourkes would not even take advantage of the extra height of the cage and just stay at or near the bottom, or is it just that they prefer moving horizontally more?
Additionally, how high up should the cage itself be? Right now she is on my dresser which is about 4 ft tall, but I plan on getting a separate stand for the cage since I'd like to have a separate spot for the cage. This brings me to the question of how I can find better stands to better fit more horizontally long sized cages? I see a lot of stands meant for vertical cages, but none that I actually need.
