I cant figure out what’s wrong with my cat
I adopted a ~2yr old cat 2 weeks ago from a shelter. immediately he started having diarrhea. It looked like peanut butter with bloody streaks. I gave it a few days to see if it was stress. No change. No change in diet either. I took him to a vet, they tested his stool for parasites. Negative. They gave him metronidazole. It didnt work. Then we tried a Rx hypoallergenic food from hills. Still diarrhea. He then started sneezing and coughing. I woke up last sunday and he was having labored breathing. I took him to an ER immediately where they ran some tests and did a chest xray. He had a 104 fever. Everything came back pretty normal. Hes finished his azithromycin and hes on a probiotic. He has more energy now but is still sneezing/coughing and I hear wheezing. But now when he sneezes he leaves liquidy drops of stool and his diarrhea is worse. More liquidy, and getting on the walls next to his box. I realize antibiotics can cause this but he doesnt seem to be improving much with his URI. Im scared and already spent an absurd amount of $ in just two weeks of having him. I am looking for anyone who may have seen this before or have any sage wisdom on what this could be so I can ask for specific diagnostic tests or if I should be even more concerned that its something more ominous. I dont want to give up on the baby and im so sad for him that I cant make him better.
