2 year old dog diagnosed with IMHA

Hi everyone. I received one of the most heartbreaking news ever, my sweet American Bully has been diagnosed with IMHA. A week before he was diagnosed, his blood test came out fine. We also took one on Tuesday night when we took him to the emergency hospital. We noticed that his gums were pale and he was still lethargic so we took him to the emergency hospital again today since his vet wasn't available. The vet over there prescribed prednisone and mycophenolate for him which he will start taking tonight. She mentioned that these are lifelong medications.

Please let me know anything I should be expecting for the next few days/weeks based on your experience. I'm scheduling an appointment with his vet to track his red cell blood count and his platelets on a weekly basis, if I should do this more frequently then I will definitely do it. I'm trying to be as positive as possible, I will do whatever it takes to keep him healthy and alive. Thank you for all your help!
