In the UK, Trying to keep it general. But we got a cat, let's call him C, from owner meg and John. John was abusing meg and she needed to move into temp Acom. We offered to look after c but found out he was kind of neglected. Me and my husband are big into animals so we took him on and have boosted c up a lot. All his previous bad habits have gone and he is a lovely cat. John threatened prior to hurt c in graphic detail.
Recently my partner has had a falling out with meg due to how she's been acting and they no longer talk. John got in contact with my partner wanting c back, which he politely said no to. We updated meg and she told us she wanted to move c, despite not having permeant address yet because they had fallen out. They can't confirm where he is going but said that they are moving into their new house soon. We told them that they could have c back once they move in and settle as it was undue stress to move in 25 miles for two weeks .
We are concerned for Cs wellbeing. Since we got him a month ago meg has been over twice and only when on the way to things. He only came with a cat carrier , a food bowl and some food. We have only taken 30 from her to look after him and even that was staggered. We had to fully flea treat the property, buy new brushes, and get him food and litre and a bunch of other small things. It's not about the money as we have a lot of other pets, it's that kind of house. We just want c to not be abused or used as a thing and are unsure where we stand or what we can do to protect his wellbeing.
Any advice would be great.many thanks
