looking to adopt a puppy soon, is $1200 too much for a mixed breed?

my boyfriend and I are moving in together and we've been talking about adopting a puppy for a while now, although we haven't been serious about it until now. yesterday, a close friend let me know that one of her acquaintances was selling a litter of korean jindo and golden retriever pups. I contacted the breeder (not sure if I can call them that because I'm not sure if they're an actual breeder) via instagram and asked to see the parents. after they sent me pics of the (extremely adorable btw) parents, I told them that I had never adopted a puppy before and asked them if they could just let me know how the process would work and about the price of the pups.

they responded that they were asking for $1200 "because of the breed" and that they will need their shots "as with any pup in general". they also added a bit of general information about the breeds they are mixed with, and said that if I was still serious about it, I could be added onto a list. however, after a little bit of research, I discovered that people usually ask $1k+ for purebreds, not mixed breeds.

so as someone who is new to this, I just have a few questions: is $1200 too much to ask for a jindo/retriever mix? also, what are some important questions I should be asking the breeder? the breeder, as mentioned above, is acquainted with not only my best friend but also some other people that I know, so I trust them quite a bit. I will definitely be doing much more research about the breeds, adoption, and training, but I thought it would also be helpful to ask you guys for some advice in the meantime. thanks in advance!
