Need advice on how to approach mistreated bunny situation

So I’m house sitting right now and they have a fairly new pet bunny. When I was here getting shown around, they had the bunny out and then took me to the room they keep its cage and other supplies. When they were done going over everything, they put the bunny in the cage and then shut the light off in the room (no windows) and left. I honestly thought it was maybe just a mistake at first but then when I came here to house sit the first night, the light was off again and the bunny was sitting in complete darkness.

Now I want to stress that these are very good, nice people and I think they honestly don’t even realize what they’re doing is wrong. They have other animals and all are cared for well, even the bunny has a clean cage and always has pellets and water available. I just can’t get over the fact that it’s just sitting in this metal cage all day by itself...in the dark. It would be different if it was let out often but the owners are adults and have work and other things so I don’t really think it gets much attention throughout the day.

While I’ve been staying here I’ve been letting it hop around in the spare bathroom while I’m at work and then I play with it for an hour after I get here (she’s super sweet and full of personality and energy) but I know once they get home they’re going to go back to the same treatment as before and it’s eating me alive. My issue is I want to gently say something or leave a note for them when I leave, but I just don’t know how to say it without sounding rude or overbearing cause like I said, I really don’t think they realize what they’re doing is actually animal abuse. If you guys could give me any advice on how to approach this I would be really grateful
