I have a 10 month old male cat. I got him at two weeks old after his mother passed away. Obviously, I had to bottle feed him for several weeks. Quarantine was going on and I wasn't really leaving the house. I crocheted a little pouch to carry him in so that he was with me at all times.
Now I have a (very large) cat that wants to be held, petted, and given attention at all times. He follows me around and has to constantly be with me. When I leave the house he sits at the front door and waits for me while meowing loudly. I know all of this thanks to my security camera and it makes me sad.
I don't want him to get depressed. I've thought about getting another cat, but it's not possible at the moment. He has a cat tree, scratch pads, dozens of toys, and I leave "cat TV" playing on the television, but he prefers to sit and cry at the door.
Is there anything I can do to help his separation anxiety?
(I should also add that he has seen a vet and there seems to be no medical cause for his behavior. But I am willing and able to take him again in if necessary.)
