I’m 16 and a sophomore in high school (currently in online classes), my dad works 4am-4pm, and my grandma, who also lives with us, works 8am-4pm. So, pretty much it’s just me and my mom (who does nails at home) home all day, everyday. My mom has gotten a few Yorkies over the years, and within a matter of a year and a half she always ends up selling them. Fast forward to now, we just got another Yorkie early last month (April) and it is the most stress inducing thing ever! Since it’s only me and my mom at home for majority of the day, and she does nails while I’m attending online class, she just keeps the puppy in the cage pretty much all day! Sometimes she takes him out to the bathroom in the morning but sometimes she doesn’t because a nail client has arrived. So she constantly tells me to take him out and feed him but I HAVE SCHOOL! She nor I have time for attending to a whole other living creature!! There’ll even be times when she’s done with nails but just lays on the couch and watches TV or takes a nap! And I’m like “take the dog out to use the bathroom and feed him; Or at least let him out the cage so he can sit with you or play in the living room! But she always replies with “he’ll be fine” or “I’ll get him in a minute”. Mind you, I’m still in class or doing homework of some sort, so it’s not like I’m refusing to tend to the puppy. On one occasion, he was left in the cage all day until about 7:00pm. I told her several times before we got this puppy, that we shouldn’t get one. And that we don’t have the time for one! She gets dogs and expects us (me and my dad) to care for them! But she wanted the dog!! I honestly don’t know how much longer I can handle. Between hearing the puppy heartbreakingly shriek and whine from his cage, having school, and bearing my mom’s extreme ignorance I just wanna cry. I feel so bad for the puppy. I just hope we sell him or give him up to someone!! I wanna cus my mom out so bad! Even at the moment that I’m typing this post, she told me to take him out to the bathroom but I’m doing schoolwork, and she’s doing nails. I’m not gonna fit this dog in my schedule. It’s so damn stressful.
