Advice for animal abuse?

I am a 16 year old girl. I'm about to tell you a bit about myself as it's crucial info for my problem.

I am moving away from home in about 5 months. I will be living with my grandparents and sister and I'll finally be away from a domestic violence home.

My mother is the one I'm living with right now. We have two cats and one of them is named Simba. Simba isn't affectionate and very distant but it's because of my mum. I have tried to educate her but she neglects and abuses him. Doesn't play with him and then gets mad when he's overstimulated. Whenever he claws at the couch she screams and throws anything and everything at him.

He once peed on the floor instead of his litter box. My mum's fiancee held him by the neck and forced his head and face into it. They will hit him if he ever vomits.

Domestic abuse is very hard to recognise and sometimes debatable so I'm way too scared to tell my other family about it incase they disregard my feelings. I'm also concerned that they will keep me home instead of allowing me to move away or possibly hurt and scream or psychologically abuse me like they used to if i report them for animal abuse.

What would be the best course of action? Do I tell my psychologist, wellbeing teacher, or other family? Do i tell a vet or animal shelter? Or is it best to keep it to myself and slowly open up about it after i move away?

I live in Australia if that helps/encourages any advice.
