Cat had a single kitten that was only around half developed, but is still pregnant.

My cat is fairly small and about 2 weeks ago we noticed she was pregnant. She seemed to be fairly far along since we could feel the kittens moving, but I guess we didn't notice because she's such a small cat. Last night she had one kitten that looked to be only half developed. It had arms and some facial features, but no fur and wasn't developed from about the arms down. She definitely still has kittens because we can feel them moving in her, but she doesn't seem to show any signs of being in labor anymore and it's just acting like her normal self (purring, eating, and wanting to play). I know I've read of some cats that will go up to almost 2 days before going back into labor, but is it possible that this is just one kitten that was developing wrong and so she just expelled it? I'm just looking for some answers as I couldn't find anything online, and I thought this subreddit might be a good place to ask.

(Also we will be getting her fixed after this. I know we should have had it done before she ever got pregnant to start with, but our local vet It's still following covid guidelines so we have to drop her off with them and leave her until they can get to fixing her. She's extremely nervous to be left alone and so we put it off. But she'll definitely be getting fixed after these kittens are weaned.)
