Cat pee help

Hi! My parents cat has been peeing outside the litter box for a little over a month now and can’t figure out what to do. They’re at their wits end and might have to rehome her if they can’t get her to stop. Posting here to see if anyone has any suggestions, they’re willing to try pretty much anything.

Their cat is an 8 year old American short hair that they’ve had for 7 years. Up until now she’s never had any litter box issues. She only does it in 2 of the hallways, and also pooped there at the beginning but has since done that in the litter box again. They’ve taken her to the vet several times and have urine and blood tests done with no abnormal results. Here are some of the things they’ve tried so far:

-adding additional little boxes to the hallways she’s been peeing in -switching litters -litter attractant -pee pads on the carpet

My dad got a little carpet shampoo machine and cleaned one of the carpets with it earlier this week. She hasn’t peed there since, but it’s only been a couple of days.

Does anyone have any recommendations on what they should try next? I’ve heard about deterrent sprays, but I feel like those might make her unlikely to go near the boxes at all. Any advice at all is welcome!
