Cat sitting and she has worms - no vet?

I've been cat sitting for a friend the past few days and just noticed a worm coming out of his cat's butt. (FWIW both our cats are female and are in different houses, my cat is an indoor cat, his is mostly indoors but she'll sometimes go on the lawn in a harness.)

He's new to the area and doesn't have a vet. I just adopted a cat and the soonest I could get her first appointment was for October and it's an hour away (and I called 11 different vets in the area). It's crazy backed up here, which unfortunately I didn't realize until after adoption. She has her basic shots, was neutered, and was examined by the shelter vet a few days after adoption with no apparent issues. She's 3 years old, eating and using the litter well, so hopefully the wait won't cause any issues for my cat.

  1. Are there any Canadian over the counter options for worms? I've heard of buying Revolution through Canada Vet, but I have no idea how safe or effective it is. And I've heard options from pet stores aren't effective and can just end up causing resistance?

  2. What are the chances that I passed it to my cat? I washed my hands after cleaning my friend's cat's litter, but other than that I wasn't taking any precautions the first few days as I didn't know, and neither did my friend apparently.

Thanks for any help!!
