Thank y'all for creating this beautiful space! OK I am seeking all kinds of advice, support, and prayers about my fur baby Poly. She is a polydactyl 10-year old with some maine coon in her. About a month ago she came down with a little cough. She had a hoarse voice and restricted purr, but otherwise was in good spirits, no open mouth panting or anything like that. The vet diagnosed Upper Respiratory Infection and gave us the Doxycycline antibiotic. Her dad was crushing the tablets up in extra delicious wet food twice a day, but she didn't finish the bottle. About two pills left to go, she stops eating. She stops drinking. To the point that she is having neurological problems. She lost 25% of her body weight. We have appetite inducers, steroids, etc, but they aren't working. The vet didn't recommend IV or subQ fluids, idk why not. We have to syringe all of her liquids into her mouth, bc she is not drinking at all. She seems a little better today, and she is eating more each day, but still not enough to make it through this.
Even if all we can do is wait, I just appreciate support and kind words so much. She needs every bit of strength. Thank you thank you thank you!
