I’d like to get a small dog in my apartment, I am on the top floor (fourth floor) and I don’t know if it is sensible to get a dog?

I would really like to get (or rescue) a small dog, preferably something like a chihuahua.

I suffer greatly with anxiety and I am very prone to catastrophising EVERYTHING, therefore when I’ve been considering a dog purchase for the last 8 months and looking at my roof terrace I am very anxious about the potential of a dog being about to jump over. One section is 3ft 9 and half is wall and the other is glass, my concern would be the wall section as the dog may be inquisitive to see what is the other side.

Does anyone have any helpful experience of owning small dogs with balconies? I can see our neighbours have quite large dogs but their balconies are all glass and I assume the dogs know not to jump over due to the glass.

Any help would be much appreciated!
