Australia is completely rabies-free so that's not a concern.
But are there some common diseases that stray cats spread?
I am asking because there is a stray cat that lives near my house and comes to my backyard every day. He sometimes asks for pets and I pet him from time to time (he is really nice to people). I do wash my hands afterward but is it safe to do so?
