To make this short, after being outside during storms and getting covered in ticks and fleas, my cat has been put on strictly indoor-mode.
I’m afraid that if he keeps going outside he might die. I am not the one who lets him outside, that’s my other family members who are annoyed by cats, but I want to make it work so I can make sure he’s safe. He hasn’t been fixed (although I can arrange that) and is about 4 years old- he has been crying nonstop to go back outside and especially when I’m not home. When I’m home I tend to try to play with him as much as possible or give him attention so he’s satisfied, but my family will let him out if he keeps crying when I’m not there. Any tips?
BTW, If my family is too intolerant and insists on keeping him outside, I would be willing to give him away or give him to a shelter. The last thing I want to do is harm him and I know that letting him out endangers his safety. I love him a lot but I know that if I’m not there to make sure he’s doing okay that my household isn’t prepared to properly take care of him. If this is the step I should take, please let me know!
