I'm a dog person. I grew up with dogs, and I don't mind cats as all the ones I've met have been very chill and independent.
I just moved in with my roommate, who has a cat, and I brought along my dog. Initially I was pretty excited to have a cat around so that my dog could have some company when I'm out. But oh my god. This cat acts exactly like an untrained spoiled DOG and it's driving me insane
I don't let pets into my room, occasionally I'll let my dog sleep with me but I don't typically do this unless I'm planning on washing my sheets later because of his drool and fur. This is fine, my dog is chill with it. Cat however, hates when I'm in my room by myself or with my dog and he will literally scream, scratch, claw at the carpet underneath my door, trying to get in. I of course just ignore him because I'm not going to teach him that if he acts like a menace he'll get his way. In fact, he's yowling at me right now while I'm in my closed off room with my dog.
Cat will jump up on counters, tables, which is understandable I guess because it's a cat, but he only does so when there's food. If we leave a plate of food on the table because we had to go to another room for a second, cat will immediately jump up and start pawing around/eating the food. Cat will also try to get in your face while eating and I absolutely hate it. My 60lb dog doesn't even do this! My dog ignores me while I'm eating because I taught him that I'm never going to give him human food, so he doesn't even try to beg.
Cat is extremely affectionate ONLY TO ME, he's indifferent about his owner. I don't know why he's so needy and obnoxious with me because I absolutely can't stand him. He can't be away from me for more than 1 second without tearing shit up. AND ONLY ME, he doesn't do this with his owner!
Cat will yowl loudly when he thinks someone is at the door. 9/10 is the ice maker making the knocking sounds.
But honestly if the cat wasn't so FREAKING LOUD, especially when I want to be in my room without the pets, I could probably tolerate him. But he is so obnoxious, so annoying, he wakes me up by screaming at my door at 6am, and won't let me go to sleep because he's screaming at the door. I have literally never wanted to drop kick an animal as much as I do now.
