My kitten is currently 5 months old (male) and a few days ago we brought home a 9 week old kitten (female). I know my 5 month old is not in heat so we thought it would be perfect to let him meet his new friend before he comes territorial. The first few minutes of meeting he hissed at her since her scent was all over his bed but she just sat there grooming herself ignoring his hisses. Hours later he would stare at her from far away but he would never run up and attack her and vice versa. It’s been a good 3 days and the 9 week old kitten is kept in my siblings room. He would cry on and on and scratch the door to see the kitten. I would from time to time carry him in my arms and let him get a closer range of her. From then, he would sniff her everywhere but she starts to growl and hiss and claw him every time. Then he would claw her back. This happens in every encounter but he wouldn’t stop crying to meet her? What is he on about? Is he curious or does he want to be friends?
