Hi all, I adopted an 11 year old pug/lab mix from a nonprofit a little less than 2 months ago. The nonprofit had him for 2 years and before then he was in a kill shelter.
I was told when I got him that he’s not good with small dogs and that I shouldn’t take him to a pet hotel or dog park. They didn’t give me much more details but I listened.
Here’s my problem. Over the last 7 weeks he’s been jumping on my friends and family when they come over. He’s been very aggressive about it and when I try to pull him away from guests he begins to growl at me. At first it was a light growl and as time has gone on, it’s been getting worse, to the point he almost attacked me.
At this point I’m not sure what to do. I’m not attached to this dog, and I fear for the safety of my friends and family, myself included. The vet said dogs his age are extremely difficult to train, especially with an unknown history. I’m not sure what to do, does anyone have any recommendations?
