Hello, so about a month ago we noticed a lump on our 15 year old female neutered indoor cat. We took her to the vet and he said it’s hard to tell what it is without sending a sample off. But essentially he told us it’s moveable but could be near the muscle so hard to tell if this is good or bad. He suggested we either wait and see how it progresses, try some antibiotics or remove it. We then went for a second opinion. This vet told us that as it’s in line with her nipples it’s most likely breast cancer and that we should get it removed and tested. Of course he can’t tell us 100% unless sending for a biopsy. He did reassured us that although she’s 15, she seems quite energetic and alive so surgery should be no problem.
My biggest worry of course is that she is 15, and I don’t want to risk putting her under surgery. Any advice on what to do? Should we get a third opinion? Of course I want to prolong her life and do what’s best for her but I’m a little unsure if surgery is the right thing to do. Because if it is cancer would we need to be on antibiotics or any other kind of medication? I’m not sure how this works. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
-thank you in advance from a worried cat mum x
