I am fostering a 1.5 year old malamute/husky (gudo) who I've known since he was a pup. The owners are away and he's living with me for 2 months, and we get along great. There are several dogs in my neighbourhood, and with gudo pissing all over, they've been barking at each other intensely. Gudo always wagged his tail when he glanced at dog A, but they end up in a barking match and we disperse. 2 nights ago, they met again and started barking, Gudo still wagging his tail and jumping towards him. he slipped through his collar, the other starts to get aggressive and bites him on the back and neck (luckily only catching fur both times). While they tumbled, dog B, As friend and a small terrier sized dog swoops onto Gudo's arm and bites it, leaving deep incisions on both sides. All this time, I didn't try to help him, but the other owners got their dogs off to break them up at this point. I put on the collar and took him to his vet, who wasn't there and opted to have me treat the wound with antiseptic and fucidin after seeing the photos. He was walking normally that day, was running and digging, then started limping. Yesterday, he was limping all day at home, but used all 4 on walks. Today, he was limping even on walks. I'm afraid he's hurt, or if he just learned not to step on wounds. I'm also concerned he's upset with me for not defending him. He gets excited when others take him for a walk, he still does with me, but clearly less so (wags tail much less, ears don't contract like they used to or with others). He also keeps looking in the direction of the dog, going their direction for walks until I take him on another route. They have barking matches all night. I don't know what to do, I feel Gudo is always concerned in his new space because of that dog A. Can anyone please advise?
