Grandpa hitting my kittens

I don’t know if this is where this goes. I made a reddit to ask this question so if it goes somewhere else, let me know and I’ll move it.

It’s basically the title. I’m living with my grandpa (I’m 25 and heading to grad school soon) and I have two kittens. One is very prone to biting fingers and toes because my grandpa constantly played with his hands and feet as toys, even though I asked him not to because it’s training the cat to treat them as toys. Now that Davy is bigger, it hurts a lot more when he bites, and I caught grandpa hitting Davy. He wasn’t hitting him very hard, but Davy won’t let me pet him anymore and seems scared of me. When I talked to him about it, he said if I don’t like it I can move. I would, and I still may, but they are both 2 months old and I work 9 hours five times a week.

So here’s the question. Is it better to leave my 2 month old kittens alone for 9 hours 4-5 times a week, or leave them with my grandpa who will continue to use force to punish them?
