I have a new ferret, as well as 2 6 inch female red eared sliders. I have the ferret in an old aquarium with a hammock for sleeping, food and water bowl. I have a plastic corner litter box, that she doesn't use. She is only kept in aquarium while I sleep or am at work. Otherwise, I let her run around the room with supervision. The base of her cage is kitty litter. I just cleaned the litter but cage and area still smell ? Do I need better litter ? Any suggestions? My sliders are in a dry cage with water, food and a heat lamp. They do escape and run around the house, without going to the bathroom. One even knows how to go in and out of doggy door. Any suggestions on substrate? I tried soil, but they just dumped water over daily, and it smelled alot. They used to have a pond, but that got smelly as well. These sliders are semi aquatic so are ok without swimming in water. TIA for ideas!
