Hoping this is the place to post. Think I have followed all the rules, but please tell me if I need to delete something!
I live in Australia and I have 4 cats with my partner. 2 are microchipped in my name however 2 are microchipped in his ex's name. He is moving away and leaving all 4 cats with me and I am moving house. I want to take the 2 cats not in my name to the vet for a badly needed checkup, however as they are in the Ex's name I'm worried that if something is wrong she will be contacted.
I have all the paper work from the microchips when the cats were adopted by her, as when she left my partner(3.5 years ago) she left everything to do with the cats and has had no contact since. I have paid for everything related to the cats since I met him (2.5 years ago). They have been to the vets for shots, however when they were adopted they had previously had surgeries on their eyes and i am concerned they will need it again. Does anyone know a way I can get the microchips into my name as I also need to change the address, as if the cats get out somehow, (they are currently indoors and have an enclosure outdoors), I want whoever finds them to be able to return them home.
If there is no way to do it I will still be taking the cats to the vets, cause I believe their health is more important than them staying with me. I am currently in lockdown so I can not get a vet appointment for a month.
