We attempted to help a stray cat 6 weeks ago who had their bowel hanging out by bringing her to our local vet. The vet neutered her and that's all. When the cat's bowel came out again we contacted the vet and was told that she had bad diarrhea and that once that stops it should go back to normal. Week passes and the poor cat is unable to control her bowel. Again, we contacted the vet who told us to worm her and that thungs should go back to normal after the diarrhea stops. Another week later we contact a different vet and they advise that sometimes these things take time and that if the first vet said this then they are probably right and we just need to wait. Weeks pass and no improvement for this poor little cat. A kind man offered to bring her to a vet he knows to take a look. Unfortunately the cat had some sort of bowel disease and had to be euthanised as it was too late to help her. I'm devastated...but I'm also annoyed.... Could our local vet not see this was the case rather then just insisting she had diarrhea? I feel like we let this poor cat down and that had our vet acted sooner and diagnosed her properly she could have been helped.
