Difficulty giving my cat anxiety medication. Looking for some tips.

My cat has had many issues over the past year. He had a major urinary tract surgery and has many behavioral issues. We've been working with the vet a lot recently and have decided he needs anxiety medication.

When he had his surgery, I had to give him a powdered medication from a pill capsule. I would mix it with some crushed up treats and he would eat it no problem.

The anxiety medication is similar. It's a powder that I need to mix with treats or food. With this one, he can clearly tell it's in there and hates the taste. He'll refuse to eat anything that has the powder in it. I really want to avoid force-feeding it to him as I think that will just add to his anxiety.

We tried giving him a different anxiety medication about a year ago. We had that one compounded with a chicken flavor and he had the same reaction he's having now. He hated the flavor and wouldn't eat anything it touched, so we gave up.

Does anyone have any tips on how they have masked the taste of their cat's medicine?
