8 years ago me and my older sister bought two female baby red eared sliders from the flea market. We were told not to expect them to live more than a year at best. Due to life things both turtles ended up living with me and my girlfriend at the time. One of them (Whiz Khalifa) was aggressive towards anything and everything but me, including her sister (Gucci Mane; she actually lost half of a foot to Whiz at one point, which led to them being placed in separate tanks) who became very close to my girlfriend at the time. After 5 years me and her split up, and I decided it was in Gucci's best interest for her to stay with my ex.
It's been 3 years since then and Whiz is doing well, but I just got a message on Facebook from my ex saying that last nite Gucci passed away. I dont even know what to do or how to react. She has no idea what happened; says she was kept in good living conditions, was acting normal yesterday, but today she woke up and Gucci was no longer alive.
I just want to hold Whiz and cry but she hates being held so I'll have to substitute that with allowing the dog in the bed because dammit I need someone to cuddle with me. I said a prayer for her (I'm not religious but I have my beliefs) and know that shes up there in turtle heaven, but none of this helps. I feel like I've lost my best friend despite the fact that I havent seen her in 3 years.
Anyway, thanks for reading and also sorry if you did. Just needed to share this with someone outside of my sister and (current) girlfriend. She was a great turtle, always happily swimming and on the rare occasion that she was fed feeder fish, viciously hunting. You will be dearly missed Gucci.
