I have had several dogs in my lifetime, but we’d always gotten them as puppies from Craigslist or other similar sites. This time around I’m going through a rescue and I’ve never had to consider so many details before and I’m getting a bit overwhelmed. We currently have a young kid, two house rabbits, and a cat, so I’m torn on which is the better option. Would you adopt a slightly older dog (2-3) that is already house, crate, etc trained but unknown past so unknown triggers or is it better to get a 6 mo puppy that only a has a few basics down but is a “clean slate”?
