Hey guys, thanks in advance for any tips you provide. So in my house lives my cat Freya (9 pounds) and my brothers cat Saria (13 pounds). Due to knee issues, our vet is recommending we limit Saria’s calories so she loses some weight. The only other option is an expensive surgery.
The problem is that I’m not sure how we can limit Saria’s food without effecting Freya. At 9 pounds she is already pretty thin. She does not like wet food whatsoever. She only eats dry food, and only ever eats a few bites at a time, but does this every hour or so throughout the day. So I keep her bowl full usually.
The recommendation I see most often is to feed them in separate, closed rooms, and only giving them like 30 minutes to eat and then removing the food. The problem is that I’m worried about Freya becoming unhealthy thin if I limit her food access. Do you guys have any other suggestions?
