Rob the Rabbit

My husband and I have had Rob for 7 years. She's 8 (she is a female- the vet had told us wrong gender when we adopted her) and she is bonded to her best friend bunny Lila (age 9). Rob has grown extremely incontinent over the years. Lately, her back feet have started to give out and she's been dragging herself everywhere she goes. I feel so bad for her, Lila hangs out with her wherever she goes. I don't think it's her time yet, and I really worry about Lila dying of a broken heart when we have to put down Rob. I know someday soon, it will be Rob's time, it's no way to live with no use of her back feet and she's been going downhill the past few weeks. Does anyone have any experience with putting down a bonded rabbit and the effects on the other rabbit who now has to live without their partner? Is there anything I can do for Rob to help get her mobility back? I'm going to bring Rob into the vet tomorrow to see what's going on. Lila is very healthy, lively bunny and not much seems to affect her. But of course I worry about her, I can't imagine being without my partner.
