I currently have a 7 year old cat. She used to be very good with other animals. I had a dog until last year (my ex got to keep him) and she was fine. My dad kept her while I was moving and she tried attacking his cats, so something I need to keep in mind. She also may be fine since shes been around other animals in the past with no issues.
With that said, an animal that does not need full roam of the house while I am not home. I have a spare bedroom they can have to themselves or mine. That way they will be kept away from my cat and not be harrassed by her either. Totally isolated. The house when I can keep an eye on them.
I work full time, so my new pet needs to be ok being alone during the day. So no dogs right now. I considered a pair of sugar gliders since I could take them to work and I work in a quiet office. I have also considered rabbits (I owned them growing up and as a teenager). I am also considering ferrets since they would sleep while I am away at work. I do not want any reptiles, rodents, or birds. Not for me.
Any advice or your own experiences with these small animals would be appreciated! No negative comments, just advice, tips, experiences, and food for thought. Thank you!
TL;DR I want a small pet, but I do not know what.
