Cats and Fumigation Woes

So a bit of backstory here; A couple of years ago I and my Common-Law Spouse adopted two wonderful kitties from the Local SPCA- Cali and Erika. Cali is a fat Cream-Orange Tabby who will play fetch and loves cuddles, and Erika is a teensy Tortie from the same little who is very shy and loves to talk. When they settled in enough to be comfortable we attempted to take them outside on harnesses and leashes as we had a tiny apartment and worried about their exercise levels as we live in a city and thus they are indoor cats.

It went... Badly. Cali took to it like a fish to water; She had a ton of fun exploring and we made it a thing that when the house was seeming too small for her energy we'd harness her up and take her for a walk- I even bought an extender leash to give her more leeway where safe, and a extending feather toy to keep her on track! But Erika...

She tried to tear out "Dad"'s throat. She was super spooked and when he wouldn't let her go immediately she went straight for the throat, and then when dropped, booked it into the landlord's basement suite. Or at least she tried to. "Daddy" got torn up pretty badly in his attempt to get her inside and calmed down. We promptly decided to Never Ever take Erika outdoors again.

Where does the fumigation come in? Due to some previous shitty living conditions my work is worried about Bedbugs and are requiring a preventative treatment. So now we need to fumigate and get these cats out of our house for like, 6 hours. We have No Idea what to do with out cats. We can't afford a kennel right now, and we have no friends we can visit. There's a pet store that allows pets nearby, but I don't know how long we can visit for. Cali is fine I'm sure; Throw her on the leash, Bring some litter and food and buy a toy. No worries. But Erika is a huge concern. If any of you have been through this, please, let me know what you tried, and whether or not it worked! I'm just so worried for my girls! ;_;

TL;DR: Need to fumigate and one of our cats becomes violent when scared and is scared of outdoors. Any Suggestions on how to handle would be great!
