Constipated kitten

(gross warning!)

I have a three month old kitten and recently she's had trouble using the litter box. She'll strain to poop, panic, then run all over the house with little dry poops hanging out her butt until she manages to pass them all... usually with my help as they get stuck in her long fur.

I try to feed her mostly wet food (Purina Pro Plan Kitten Focus) but she only eats about a tablespoon at a time, so when my boyfriend and I are at work I leave dry food out for her (alternating between Iams ProActive and Blue Buffalo kitten food). She also drinks water frequently and pees a LOT, so I'm not sure if dehydration is the problem. I started putting a little extra water in her wet food just in case.

Her last vet visit she was perfectly healthy, and she has another appointment on Friday so I'm going to ask for more advice then. In the meantime I'm wondering if there's anything I can try to do for her, because it is not pleasant for any of us and I'm afraid it might happen again in the next couple days. Anyone here have similar issues before?
