Hello all. My small dog has had a problem with licking lately. By this I mean she has licked my face (normally aiming for the mouth) for sometimes over 3 minutes straight, several times a day. She also tends to lick her nose frequently and lick other parts of her body such as her arm as she is lying down. I can get her to stop with a simple “No.” or “Stop.” However she stops for just a second and almost immediately begins again.
Even when it seems she has finally finished licking my face, she only really takes a 30 second-1 minute break before continuing again, and I don’t believe I have ever seen her stop without interruption until I get up and prohibit her from licking me.
She also strangely only does this with me, and leaves everybody else alone or at the most licks them once. I have noticed she is very attached and gets sad whenever I shut the door and she can’t get in my room, as well as never leaving my side unless there is a distraction outside or something.
Don’t get me wrong, I love her very much and never pass up the opportunity for a nice kiss from my family and companion, but I’m just curious on why she may be showing this behavior.
