This was a few weeks ago. I work in a dog grooming salon and a grumpy older lady comes in with a morbidly obese cairn terrier reeking of cigarettes. She wants a bath for her dog and criticizes us for grooming dogs while other customers are waiting to have their dogs dropped off. Saying that if you want to cut your dogs hair then you shouldn't have that breed of dog and that a dogs hair should be allowed to grow naturally. I had to hold my tongue because I saw this same lady at the local dog park tonight with my two dogs along with two friends. We have five dogs all together. 3 small breeds and 2 large breeds. I take my German Shepard and Pomeranian here all the time and and give them both time to run in all three areas, dog launch, small dogs, and large dogs. For our friend it was her dogs first time at the park so she was nervous so we decided it's be best to have her with the little dogs since she is used to living with a Chihuahua and because the large dog area always has more tension. She's a German Shepherd. She also wears a head collar to keep her from pulling. We were all together and had a good eye on her. She was doing really good btw! As soon as I recognized the lady I told my friends about what happened at work with her and not even five minutes later she yells at someone for having a 10lb pitbull puppy saying it's too aggressive to be at the dog park period and all the dog is doing is literally sniffing other dogs. When we make a lap around the park with Luna all five of our dogs are following us and we have her next to us the lady starts yelling at us for having a muzzled large dog in the little dog section. We tried to explain that it was a head collar not a muzzle and that she does better with smaller dogs and it's her first time while there's four other large dogs not including mine running around. She wouldn't let us finish explaining so we just walked off and minded our own business. I notice that she starts getting people's attention and pointing to us saying we have an aggressive dog and that we need to not be here because she's over the 30 lb weight limit. My friend says hey! We're over here hows it going!? And the lady gives us the middle finger and leaves. I have been going here ever since my shepherd was a puppy and have seen a number of large dogs here and it's less tension than in the large dog area. Ultimately Luna never snapped. We were here for about four hours and in the end everyone of the dogs were enjoying themselves.
