Sorry for the incoming rant, just had to share my experience with what just happened today.
Was driving down a main road and I see a little Maltese/Silky/Poodle (Unsure but you get the drift) walking alone along the side of the busy road, even stepping onto the road a few times. After stopping the car, putting my hazards on and pulling over just to check on him, he sees me and bolts presumably back to his house which is down a long driveway and off the road. This isn't the first time i've done this, its quite common and they usually go straight back to their house, which is the best case scenario really.
I noticed an old man gardening down the driveway with his back to me and the dog so I walked over to him just to let him know his or his neighbours or whoevers dog has gotten out.
He then proceeds to tell me to "mind my own business" and said something along the lines of "I'm sick of everyone trying to take my dog, he just takes a leak up there". I tried to reassure him that I was just trying to let him know he got out and that i'm not trying to take him away or anything like that. He just got more hostile and more defensive so I said to him "look if he gets hit I don't have to say I told you so" and walked off.
Was I in the wrong here? should I mind my own business? everytime I see a dog walking by itself on a main road and have brought it back to its owners they are usually thankful so I am unsure what I did wrong this time or if I should even bother in the future.
