I’ll post more details at the very end so you guys don’t read an essay basically lol. But my grandma offered to buy me a bottle of Feliway from the vet for $18. The vet, though, failed to tell me the $18 bottle was a TRAVEL SIZE! But I’ve sprayed Wingers (my cat) favorite spots to sleep and I’ve already noticed he’s not as jumpy. He’s purring more, falls asleep purring, and just seems a bit more chipper! What irritates me is the travel size isn’t going to last me very long since you spray it every 4-5 hours. Has anyone ever tried the diffusers WITHOUT it catching fire or burning? I’ve read sooooo many reviews of the diffusers catching fire, burn marks, or smoking. Is it because they’re not changing the diffuser refill as often as they’re supposed to? Or should I just stick with buying the spray bottles online since you get the big bottles for the same price as the travel sizes from our vets? And how long does the bigger bottle of Feliway last for you guys who do use it?
The problem with Winger if you want to read, the list is so long I apologize but it’s just to give background on why I really need to figure out which direction to go with Feliway: I took him in from my sister fully knowing he’s a scaredy cat. But what made his anxiety and paranoia worse, is I had to take my sister in for a week and she failed to tell me JUST how much her dog hates cats. Since her and her dog were sleeping in my living room, I had to block off the kitchen and keep Winger in there so he still has access to his litter box (no way in hell I was sleeping with a litter box in my bedroom lol). But even with Winger being safe from her dog, he was so scared and traumatized that my sister sent her dog to her ex boyfriend. But ever since then, Wingers anxiety and paranoia got so insanely bad. He used to love my neighbors dog who was smaller than him (Wingers a fat long haired cat so he’s bigger than chihuahuas lol) but now, nope. He gets along fine with cats though. If he’s sleeping on my bed and I take a breath to sneeze, he immediately jumps up and stares at me. If I do sneeze, he books it out of my room even if he was dead asleep. My jacket is his FAVORITE thing to sleep on, and now he’s terrified if I walk inside my house and drop my jacket. Walking inside with boots? Terrified. Cleaning without making noises? Tucks his tail, gets low to the ground, runs and hides. My friend pulled up one day, didn’t knock, didn’t get out of her car, didn’t honk her horn, NOTHING, he got so terrified he ran as fast as he could and hid in my closet. If someone lightly knocks on my door, he runs and hides. I grab a trash bag, just grabbing it, runs. Bring it two paper bags of groceries? Runs. Try to brush him (which he LOVED, omg he loved), he now makes me chase him for 10 minutes. He’s losing his winter coat so I really needed to brush him. Since he’s losing his winter coat in clumps, I don’t allow him on my bed right now so I move my foot without touching him, and he jumps so bad my bed shakes and he runs. It’s INSANE because he absolutely loves me and he knows I’ve NEVER hurt him, but he acts like his life is in danger over stuff he never did before.
