Hello! I just wanted to get some advice on how to train my dog to use the bathroom in my backyard. Let me start by saying he is potty trained. When we adopted him, we were living in an apartment. We took him out regularly, but always on a leash and we normally would take him on a walk around the complex after he went. We moved into a house a few days ago. I was very excited, not only would he have a big backyard to play in, but it’d also be super convenient for me. I let him out when we got there and he just sniffed around, then looked at me. I thought he didn’t have to go so we went back inside. Before bed, I always take him out, so I let him outside and stood out there. He did the same thing he did earlier. He’ll only go to the bathroom on our walks. I tried taking him out on his leash to go in the backyard but he wouldn’t do anything. How could I train him to go in the backyard on his own?
