Is Moving my cat a bad idea?

I am moving put of my parents house to the downtown area of my city this Summer. I would like to bring my 10 year old, Male, Longhaired tuxedo cat. We adopted him as a kitten, and he's lived as an outdoor cat in a suburban area his whole life with us. Is this a bad idea? I'm concern that this might confuse him. I don't want to move him so late in his life if it will do more harm than good. I have the option , of course, to leave him at home with my parents.

Extra info:

-he's extremely healthy with no signs bad health

-we also have a dog at home that he doesn't love too much

I really just want what's best for him. Any info would be great.

Thanks!!
