My cat attacked someone, has never done this before.

Hey I’ve never posted here and I need some advice, throwaway just in case

So I’m a student and a currently living away from home, I have a cat who is living with my family and I have a 10 year old little sister. My cat, who is an outdoors cat, is the sweetest most affectionate feline but an incident occurred a few days ago on my family’s street. My sister was playing with her friends outside and got into a fight with a group of two boys (guessing 11 since my sister says they are in the year above) and they were being quite nasty to my sister and her friends. That’s when my cat ran in and attacked one of the boys scratching and biting which is completely out of her nature. They backed off but the boys mother came to see my mum threatening to have my cat “seen too” and I am frightened for her safety. Is there anything I can do to protect her, are we in trouble at all? I’m in the UK if that helps?
